President's Message

Greetings and welcome to our brand-new website and online portal for the International Board for the Certification of Specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

I am very excited to share with you the features of this site, which contains not only information about the Board, but serves as our virtual office in almost every sense of the word. Candidates wishing to become certified by the IBCSOMS will find descriptions about the education, training and licensing requirements as well as information pertaining to the examination process itself including fees, topics to be covered, and the examination format. When it comes time to apply for the examination, all documents and fees will be submitted through our virtual office website.

Qualified surgeons interested in serving as members of the examination committee can also use the website to apply for consideration by the Board's Directors. The website will also provide links to newsletters and other organizations, such as the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS).

The website is an example of the innovative approach we have taken to the formation of the International Board. Due to our minimal resources and recognizing that the administration of the organization involves individuals scattered around the entire world, we decided to construct a virtual office using cloud-based services for every task commonly associated with other administrative offices. Communication, meeting records, scheduling functions, project collaborations, membership information, payments of exam fees or annual registrations, tax filings, banking, and the list goes on and on, will all be conducted electronically using our website. We hope this approach not only significantly reduces cost, but it will make it easier to "move" the office whenever new individuals are selected for leadership positions by the IBCSOMS.
